IDS 2021 – Köln

The International Dental Show (IDS / Internationale Dental Schau) in Cologne, Germany, as the world’s most influential and the most concerned dental exhibition in the industry, was successfully held in Cologne from September 25 to 28, 2021.

Due to the epidemic, the exhibition was postponed for half a year from the original plan. The combination of its offline physical pavilion and online digital platform (IDSconnect) provides hope and impetus for the development of the global dental industry in the post-coronavirus era. However, the epidemic has caused an inevitable and profound impact on the development of the industry, and the situation on the scene is not optimistic.

Compared with the IDS 2019, this year the number of exhibitors has decreased from 2,328 different companies to 830, and the number of visitors has decreased from 160,095 to 23,000. There were 542 exhibitors in the Asia-Pacific region in 2019, accounting for 23% of all exhibitors. But this year in the Asia-Pacific region, most exhibitors are from South Korea while only a few are from other countries. It is noted that only 22 Chinese exhibitors attended IDS 2021.
